Why John Boyega Is Bulking Up For Star Wars: Episode IX
This weekend, moviegoers will have the opportunity to see John Boyega co-pilot a giant robot and fight equally large monsters as Jake Pentecost in Pacific Rim Uprising, but it was only a couple months ago that we saw the actor reprising Finn for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Just like how we had to wait two years between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, it won't be until the final month of 2019 that we see Boyega and his Star Wars costars return for Episode 9, but Boyega is already planning his work-out regiment, as he thinks the tale will packed with even more conflict than the previous installments he's been in. Boyega explained:
Next for me, filming wise, is Star Wars: Episode IX in July. They've officially given us a note to start training soon. I'm going to take a holiday before that. I think that, regardless of where the story goes -- and I haven't read it, by the way -- I think it's going to be all out war. So I know that I'm going to have to work out and strengthen for that part.
Even with Pacific Rim Uprising finally arriving in theaters, John Boyega is keeping busy. As he recently told CinemaBlend ahead of his upcoming appearance at Awesome Con in Washington D.C., while he will be taking a vacation soon to recharge the ol' batteries, he'll still need to begin bulking up soon for Star Wars: Episode IX. With Episode 9 being moved from May of 2019 to December of the same year, principal photography is scheduled to begin this summer, but for Boyega (and no doubt many of the other actors), he'll need to ensure he's in proper shape before the cameras start rolling. We're a long ways off from learning any Episode 9 plot details, but given how The Last Jedi ended, I can't say I'm shocked by Boyega saying that the final entry of this Star Wars trilogy will be "all out war."

When we left off with Finn and his allies at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, nearly all of The Resistance had been wiped out by The First Order, and the handful of survivors managed to escape from Crait on the Millennium Falcon thanks to Luke Skywalker distracting Kylo Ren with his Force projection. Even with their pitiful numbers, General Leia Organa predicted that because of Luke's sacrifice, The Resistance will rise again. It remains to be seen how much time will have passed when Episode 9 begins, but since the movie will presumably mark the end of the conflict between The Resistance and The First Order, it's a good bet that this war will go out with an especially big bang, and Finn will need to be in great shape for those final fights.
Star Wars: Episode IX will be released in theaters on December 20, 2019, but if you're interested in watching John Boyega's most recent work, you can either head to the theater this weekend to see Pacific Rim Uprising, or you can watch The Last Jedi, which is now available on Digital HD and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD next Tuesday, March 27.

This is a bad stereotype, and shouldn't have a place in Star Wars. This is why we aren't getting anything new or exciting. Boyega's character had the most potential out of the new characters. Ignoring it speaks volumes of some of the problems we have moving forward, and now it's affected the biggest franchise this country has produced.
Why Batman Had A Crawler In Justice League, Instead Of The Batcycle
Batman sure does love his "wonderful toys," and Justice League offered up some of the coolest Bat-themed gadgets yet. In fact, one of the coolest gizmos of the bunch was the aptly-named Knight Crawler -- which allowed Batman and the newly-formed superhero team to investigate the area underneath Gotham Harbor. It was a far cry from the Batcycle that was initially planned for the film, and that change was apparently made to suit Justice League's team-oriented themes. Concept artist Ed Natividad explained in a recent interview:
The Batcycle was proposed as a new form of transport for Batman. However it was superseded in favor of the Knight Crawler. Zack Snyder felt the cycle did not reflect the 'team' dynamic and needed something that would carry at least three of the members.
Developing a movie with Batman in it must feel like a gadget lover's dream, and Justice League went through a series of different iterations and incarnations, which involved changing the tech used by Bruce Wayne in the fight against Steppenwolf. In earlier versions of the movie, Batman used a unique motorcycle with anti-gravity technology to help him hover above the ground. That said, director Zack Snyder eventually decided that Batman should use something a bit larger, with the ability to carry multiple inhabitants, per Ed Natividad's explanation of the decision to Film Sketchr.
Thematically speaking, it is easy to understand why Justice League would want to embrace a larger vehicle like this, but it also makes sense from a creativity point of view. We have seen numerous Batman movies over the years, many of which have included Bat-themed motorcycles for Batman (or members of The Bat Family) to use. With memories of the Batpod used in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises still fresh in mind, it seems logical that the folks behind Justice League would endeavor to avoid such comparisons.

The decision to create a vehicle with a sizeable carrying capacity did not stop at the creation of the Knight Crawler. In addition to eschewing the motorcycle in favor of the spider-like tank, Justice League also saw Bruce Wayne use his Flying Fox ship to transport the entire League (minus Superman, who was busy getting his new suit) to Russia for the showdown against Steppenwolf. Again, it all ties back into the film's broader theme of letting Batman work with others after twenty years of solitude.
Zack Snyder's Justice League is currently available on Digital HD and Blu-ray, if you want to see the Knight Crawler in action. Looking beyond the Gotham-based adventures of Bruce Wayne, you can also catch the next DCEU solo film later this year when James Wan's Aquaman debuts on December 21.

Chris Evans Says Filming His Last Avengers 4 Scene Was Not All That Memorable
Fans probably want pomp and circumstance. They'd probably prefer that Chris Evans' final day on the set of Avengers 4 included the Star-Spangled Avenger delivering a knockout blow to Thanos (Josh Brolin), or reuniting with his beloved Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). But Evans says his final day on set wasn't all that, explaining:
It was something really stupid, it was something really dumb. Which I also probably can't give away. Well, you know, it was reshoots, so you're doing these little picks and pops, and it's just little things that they need. It might have been a line to Paul Rudd. He wasn't there, but it was a stupid line. The line wasn't memorable to me [laughs]. The day was more memorable than the line.
While attending ACE Comic Con in Chicago over the weekend, Chris Evan opened up to attendees (via ComicBook) about his final day shooting footage or what will eventually become Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers 4. (Any day Marvel wants to give us a title on that one, we'd be cool.)
Naturally, Chris Evans' final day wouldn't include the action of his final scene. These movies are shot out of order, and the bulk of Avengers 4 (we believe) was filmed at the same time as Avengers: Infinity War. This allowed actors to record the bulk of their scenes at once, but as Evans notes, reshoots and pick-ups are necessary.
What's still shocking to me is that we haven't seen a single frame of footage from Avengers 4. Not a teaser. Certainly not a full trailer. It's a summer blockbuster that's roughly seven months away, and yet, the entire production remains shrouded in mystery.
Even when a key cast member like Chris Evans reveals a little bit of information regarding the thing he filmed on his final day, everyone who is part of the Marvel hype machine knows that nothing can be revealed, because every word is analyzed and overanalyzed by sites (like ours).
Will this be the end of Chris Evans' run as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America? We thought so, but after Tweeting a farewell of sorts to the character -- and the MCU -- Evans soft-shoed backwards to say that he doesn't know if his time with the shield is done. Avengers 4 appears to be the end of the road for a number of our key Founding Avengers. Will Hulk, Cap, Iron Man and Thor move on into whatever comes after Avengers 4? (We know Black Widow's getting a solo movie, but even that might be a prequel.)
If it's the end, we can only thank Chris Evans for his service. We can't imagine any other actor in the iconic role of Captain America, and we can't wait to see what the Russos have in store for him, and for the whole team. Avengers 4 will in theaters on May 3... or earlier, if it follows the playbook established by Avengers: Infinity War.
