The Russo Brothers Open Up About Gamoras Avengers: Endgame Fate

MAJOR spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame has been in theaters for weeks, providing countless plot twists and major payoffs for the hardcore Marvel fandom. The Russo Brothers brought an end to the Infinity Saga, killing off beloved characters and bringing back everyone who got dusted by Thanos in Infinity War. But there's one hero's fate that's currently unclear: Zoe Saldana's Gamora.

Gamora perished in Infinity War not through the snap, but by Thanos killing her on Vormir in order to procure the Soul Stone. But the fans were delighted to see her return in Endgame, although it was the 2014 version of the character who was still serving Thanos. She ultimately united with current day Nebula to take the Mad Titan down, although she wasn't seen after the battle ended. Now The Russo Brothers have addressed the ambiguity of Gamora's fate, saying:

Joe: We don't know whether she was dusted or whether she survived. That's probably a question that Guardians [3] will answer.Anthony: Quill doesn't know either.Joe: I'm sure future films will answer that question.

Tricky, tricky. The Russo Brothers purposefully didn't reveal whether or not Tony dusted Gamora in the final moments of the Endgame battle. Although since she was so prominently featured in the epic battle and all-female moment, that fate would be a disservice to the character.

The Russo Brothers' comments to Business Insider help to get a glimpse behind the curtain of the MCU, and the co-directors' methodical way of filmmaking. Avengers: Endgame included just about every character imaginable, and the Russos had to juggle countless narratives. But Marvel characters also have their own franchises, so there was a tricky balance regarding how much ownership the brothers could take.

Because of this, Gamora's death in Infinity War it was truly a gut punch. And since she wasn't dusted by Thanos' snap, it didn't seem likely that she'd return from the dead once it was reversed. Luckily, time travel was a major macguffin in Endgame, and allowed for Zoe Saldana's signature Guardian to brought back to life.

Gamora had always hated Thanos, so it made sense that she would help out the future version of her sister, and try to stop him from getting the Infinity Stones again. This also reunited her with Peter Quill, although he was a total stranger to her. Gamora was last seen fighting alongside women of the MCU, as Captain Marvel got the Gauntlet through Thanos' army.

Related: How Does One Return The Soul Stone? We Asked The Avengers: Endgame Writers

The Russo Brothers' tease about Guardians 3 was set up during the final moments of Endgame, as Star-Lord was shown searching for Gamora's location back onboard The Benatar. Smart money says that's a major plot line in the upcoming threequel, as Gamora's family tries to find her. But since she doesn't know any of the motley crew besides Nebula, they'll be starting from scratch. That includes Peter Quill, who had finally broken down her walls and convinced the green girl to dance.

James Gunn is back behind the director's chair for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and has teased some big things for Rocket in the upcoming threequel. But he's no doubt got plans for every member of the group, including Gamora.

It's currently unclear when Guardians 3 will hit theaters, but you can watch Gamora and the rest in Avengers: Endgame now. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Black Panther 2 May Be Looking At Donald Glover For A Villain Role

Black Panther 2 May Be Looking At Donald Glover For A Villain Role

While Marvel fans are currently reeling from the emotional ending of Avengers: Infinity War, it wasn't long ago that Black Panther was the MCU blockbuster on everyone's lips. Ryan Coogler's superhero movie was a massively important cultural moment, and made an insane amount of money at the box office during its long run in theaters. Questions revolving around the film's sequel instantly began, and now we may have an idea regarding Black Panther 2's potential villain. New rumors indicate who Coogler may be looking to to fill Killmonger's shoes, and now it appears that he's approaching none other than the great Donald Glover.

This potential news is sure to be exciting for both Marvel fans and those familiar with Donald Glover's already stellar career. Glover is one a serious hot streak now, finding wild success with his FX show Atlanta, his continued music career as Childish Gambino, as well as his upcoming roles in Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Lion King. He seems like the perfect talent to bring into the Black Panther franchise, so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for the deal to come to fruition.

It's worth noting that reports of Donald Glover's potential involvement in Black Panther 2, which come to us from Metro.uk, are far from official. The moviemaking business is very fluid, and things change on a whim. While Ryan Coogler may once again be enlisting help from Donald Glover for the next Black Panther movie, he could easily be disinterested or have too busy of a schedule to allow the production.

If Donald Glover ends up signing on to play Black Panther 2's villain, it wouldn't be the first time he helped contribute to the franchise. While he didn't appear in the first movie, he helped Ryan Coogler work on early version of the script, and craft some comedic beats for the Marvel blockbuster. Considering how Glover's star power is only continuing to grow in his career's continued upward trajectory, now seems like the right time to get him a meaty comic book role.

Of course, there are some logistical issues to work out if Donald Glover ends up taking a role in Black Panther 2. The most obvious is that the actor has actually already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had a small role as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming, possibly helping to set up the inclusion of Miles Morales in the process. It's unclear if Marvel would have an issue with his dual roles. Luke Cage's Alfre Woodard also appeared as a different character in Captain America: Civil War, so it isn't without precedence.

Avengers: Infinity War is still in theaters now, and you can catch Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story starting on May 25th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

The problem is that Venom is a completely boring character to play off Peter without at least setting up Spider-Man's connection to the symbiote. Which they haven't done and probably won't do if they also want the Eddie Brock Venom to have decent screentime.

A Live-Action Batman Beyond Movie? One Horror Actor Wants To Make It Happen

A Live-Action Batman Beyond Movie? One Horror Actor Wants To Make It Happen

Few avenues of the DC lore have been explored more than Batman, but there's still plenty more story to tell. In fact, one clear element of the material that's ripe for adaptation is Batman Beyond, and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey thinks he is the one to help bring that younger and more technologically-advanced version of The Caped Crusader to life. In a recent interview for his new film, Truth or Dare, Posey addressed his interest in working on a Batman Beyond movie and said:

I always got... Remember Batman Beyond? I loved Batman Beyond! That'd be fun, man. I don't want... I don't want to get too old before I got to pitch it.

Batman Beyond inherently requires a younger actor to tell its story, and at 26 years old, Tyler Posey thinks that the time is right for him to step in as Terry McGinnis. The actor apparently loved the show during its run -- which makes sense, as his age puts him in the prime demographic -- and it looks like that is the big-budget comic book franchise that he would love to jump to at some point. Now it is just a matter of getting the ball rolling before he ages out.

Batman Beyond is one of those properties that has become beloved by fans since its run back in the early 2000s. Initially taking place in the classic DC animated universe (though it was eventually folded into the main DC Comics continuity) Batman Beyond imagines a futuristic (almost Blade Runner-esque) version of Gotham City in which Bruce Wayne has been forced into retirement by age. Decades after hanging up the cape and cowl, he comes across a talented and brooding teenager named Terry McGinnis and begins to groom the young boy to take his place as the protector of the city.

Fans and Hollywood insiders alike have called for a Batman Beyond movie in the years since the show debuted, and one even almost happened at one point. Tyler Posey's remarks to Screen Rant make it clear that he considers himself the right person for the job if it ever comes together, but only time will tell if that project ever returns to the Warner Bros. radar and becomes a genuine possibility.

Whether or not a Batman Beyond movie is going to happen remains to be seen, but for now, make sure to catch Tyler Posey in Blumhouse's Truth or Dare, which opens in theaters on April 13. Back in the DC world, watch out for the latest DCEU outing when James Wan's Aquaman premieres on December 21.
