Brahms: The Boy IIs Katie Holmes Admits She Gets Scared Filming Scary Movies

Following 2017s Logan Lucky, Katie Holmes is headed back to the big screen for STX Films upcoming movie Brahms: The Boy II. The actress plays the mother of a boy who befriends a doll he calls Brahms after moving into a creepy mansion. Shes no stranger to horror film work, but ahead of the release of this project, Katie Holmes admitted she gets scared filming scary movies.

In particular, Brahms: The Boy II was frightening at times. It was not because of the script or its creepy mansion setting, but because of the fact a doll plays a prominent role in the horror flick.

This was pretty terrifying to make when we were working with the doll. It was a lot. I was scared. I love dolls; I have a conflict because I have so many, growing up with a lot of baby dolls I never thought of a doll being creepy and now I have to rethink everything.

Brahms: The Boy II isnt Katie Holmes first horror project by a long shot. Shes been in movies like Dont Be Afraid of the Dark, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, and Disturbing Behavior. However, some of these arent even straight horror flicks and its been a while since she dipped into the horror well.

She said she took on this role because it was a mom character and her child and how it was such a universal fear for every parent to want to protect their kid from danger and badness.

While filming the role, however, she said she got a little bit jumpy when asking whether or not she believes in supernatural forces. She said:

Well, when we were making this there were a couple of times I would be in my bed and start to fall asleep and like my pillow would fall, but I was like [creeped out].

When asked during the CinemaCon 2019 panel which horror movies influenced her most over the years, the actress cited a lot of classic films like The Shining, Rosemarys Baby, Halloween, and Scream. So although she said its hard for her to watch them, she has at least seen some of the big horror movie moments of the past several decades.

Brahms: The Boy II is a sequel to the 2016 film The Boy, also produced by STX, which started its feature length career with another horror film, The Gift. This new iteration will return to the Heelshire Mansion to tell a brand new story. Youll be able to see it for yourself on July 26, 2019 the same week as Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

In the meantime, Katie Holmes better start preparing herself for the premiere now given the rough time she seems to have with scary moments, although, as long as no one hands her a doll at the premiere I assume she'll be fine.

Kevin Feige Says There Will Be No Time To Pee During Avengers: Endgame

Kevin Feige Says There Will Be No Time To Pee During Avengers: Endgame

After Avengers: Endgame was officially announced as a three hour and two minute epic, one particular question came up that hasnt really been raised with any other Marvel Studios film: Will there be time to pee? Sure, three hours sounds intimidating, but with so many other films before it running close to that length in the MCU, is it really that big of a question? Well if its an issue close to your heart, producer/mastermind Kevin Feige has given an answer as to when is the best time to pee during Avengers: Endgame. Unfortunately for those with small bladders, that answer is never.

What Ive always said is a movie is as long as it should be. And we are not fans of overindulging movies. We are not fans of laborious lengths for no reason. We are fans of movies that you wish didnt end. Movies that you want to see again as soon as its over. And movies that you just dont ever find a good time to run out to the bathroom. Thats when a movies working. And if a movie doesnt feel like that to us we continue to trim, we continue to shape, we continue to bring that time down. That happened to a certain extent on this movie. But we got to a point where it feels very exciting and goes by very quickly and in the end is the perfect length. And everybody that saw the movie felt the same way.

This particular subject was raised at this weekends press junket for the Infinity Sagas swan song, and Feige explained that they tweaked the movie until they got to the point where there was no downtime in the film.

So, rather than being a sadistic response to a rather public issue, Kevin Feige is saying that Avengers: Endgame is such a well-woven story that every second of screen time is earned in the eyes of the creators. If that claim holds up, and everything weve seen come out of the films marketing indicates such a scenario may be likely, youre definitely going to want to go to the bathroom before taking the trip to defeat Thanos and not whilst in the middle of it.

You could pretty much expect this piece of information Kevin Feige told io9 to spark up the debate of whether or not an intermission is required during Avengers: Endgame, and for sure this information changes the terms of that discussion. If the plot to this particular film is so hypothetically dense theres little-to-no period of time the audience can be absent, then even those who feel that a film of this stature doesnt require a breather might be persuaded to change their tune. This only makes the claim that the second half of the film is apparently mind-blowing all the more intriguing.

Of course, this is coming from Kevin Feige, and to say hes biased towards Avengers: Endgame, or any of the MCU films, is an understatement. What may be an invaluable moment of Ant-Man joking about defeating Thanos through the worst re-enactment of Fantastic Voyage ever for some, might be another audience members perfect time to purge the soft drinks he or she consumed earlier.

Avengers: Endgame will be in theaters on April 26th, but if youre seriously concerned about bladder-pacing issues, you might want to wait a little while for some public feedback to see whether or not this film will give you a problem. Which gives you a little more time to study our feature on what order you should experience the MCU prior to Avengers: Endgame.

---

Of course, this being a modern blockbuster, there will be no such downtime. So, when should the discerning fan go to pee? According to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, there is no good time to duck out and hit the head. Speaking during a press junket in advance of the film's release, Feige elaborated on how Marvel makes its movies.

One Major Oscar Predictor Site Says Get Out Is The Movie To Beat

One Major Oscar Predictor Site Says Get Out Is The Movie To Beat

It's time to put up, or shut up. The Academy Awards are being handed out on Sunday, and experts from far and wide are making their bets educated guesses about who -- and which movies -- will go home as Oscar winners. Several indicators have been pushing the narrative toward either The Shape of Water or Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, but a dark-horse contender for Best Picture has emerged in Get Out. Here's why.

Gold Derby is a clearinghouse for Oscar prognosticators. For months now, they have been polling their panel of experts on the ebbs and flows of the ongoing Oscar race. And as of today, Jordan Peele's Get Out has a 7/2 odds of winning Best Picture, or a 45% chance of winning. Two other contenders have decent odds. The Shape of Water sits at 11/5, or 32% chance of winning, while Three Billboards sits at 17/10, or a 27% chance of going home a winner at the end of Sunday night.

Why the change in tide? It's hard to say with certainty. Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri enjoyed a good deal of success early, taking home top honors from the Golden Globes, The BAFTAs, the SAG Awards and AFI. But various (minor) scandals about the way the movie threats its characters -- and its controversial themes -- have some wondering if it has what it takes to land a Best Picture Oscar.

Get Out, on the other hand, is a movie that has improved with age... and with repeat viewing. Jordan Peele's horror-comedy hides so many of its secrets until its final reveal that you don't really notice how tightly constructed the film is until you've watched it a second time. Universal did a lot to make sure that Academy members did revisit the movie. Check out the trailer, if you haven't seen it in some time.

What might be working against Get Out? For starters, it's a horror film, and they tend not to compete for Best Picture (movies like The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby notched wins in smaller categories, like Makeup, Sound or Screenplay). Also, Get Out came out more than a year ago at this point, and while Universal has done its part to keep it on the radar of Academy voters, it can be a real challenge to maintain passion for a movie for that amount of time. Films like Three Billboards or The Shape of Water, which came out later and are more fresh in the voters' memory banks, could strike cords when it comes time to cast a ballot.

That being said, the Anonymous Oscar columns show that trying to figure out how an Oscar voter is going to land is a fool's errand. So, we can say that Gold Derby odds make it seem like Get Out might have a great night on Sunday, the chances of it going home empty handed are just as real. Remember the La La Land / Moonlight debacle from last year?
